The Backpackers was founded by Hawaiian local and legendary big-wave surfer Mark Foo. The foundation and spirit he set are still alive and strong today.
This ocean-front accommodation is visited frequently by just about everyone- families, surfers, or just anyone looking for an affordable, yet enjoyable, place to stay! With the supermarket a few-minute walk in one direction, and the famous Waimea Bay in the other, there is no need for a vehicle! If you do prefer a set of wheels, Backpackers provides bicycles, among many other things, for rent.
Don't feel like walking or riding much at all? The Backpackers is conveniently located directly across the street from the popular dive spot, Three Tables Beach. Surrounded by food, beach, ocean, and mountains, The Backpackers is enjoyed by many, and has a place for anyone!
Private Rooms - Private rooms are located in Plantation Village and the Brown House. A private room sleeps 2 people. The kitchen and bath are shared with other private rooms on your floor or in your cabin. All the rooms have keyed locks. It's a great way to meet people and have privacy at the same time. Private Studios - Private studio apartments are located in the Beach Building. All studios have an ocean view and a patio or balcony overlooking the beach. Private Cabins - Private cabins are located at Plantation Village. Cabins sleep 4 to 8 people depending on the cabin (2, 3 or 4 bedroom). The cabins have large decks with great ocean views and are located just across from the beach. The cabins have full kitchens and are equipped with and cooking and eating utensils. Hawaii Eco Divers & Surf Adventures offers scuba diving, surf tours, kayaking, parasailing, shark diving, hiking, skydiving and helicopter tours on the North Shore and all around the island of Oahu, Hawaii.
From our base near Waimea Bay on the North Shore we have many options for amazing dives. Sharks Cove, Three Tables and Waimea are sure bets for a fun shore dive with lots of features, lava formations and lots of marine life. From the famous boat wrecks around Waikiki like the Sea Tiger, San Pedro and YO-257, to Turtle Canyon, Hanauma Bay, the Corsair wreck, we got the South Shore of Oahu covered! On the West Coast we have some of the best dives on the island mixing reefs, rock formations, lava tubes, boat wrecks, and amazing marine life. Sharks, eagle rays, dragon eels, whale and dolphin watching while on deck, the list goes on! The Mahi wreck, Makaha caverns and Black Rock are some of the best dives in this area.
